I rarely begin with an idea; I start with pure work ethic. Walking up to a blank surface doesn’t intimidate me. Marks happen and the work becomes a thing I channel. Fearlessly combining mental illness with industrial design methodologies has become my guiding tenet.
My paintings are collisions of shapes and chaos; colours clash and complement. The process is as much excavation as invention. I paint, draw, scratch, and wipe away materials to translate a riot derived from human interaction and emotion. Multiple works frequently develop simultaneously from the same palette. Seizures of lines on one work may become swathes of tranquility on another.
To balance with the bedlam I create on canvas, my drawings demonstrate precision. Pen and ink works are full of serene, hard lines but other works on paper will commonly use the same oils, acrylics, pastels, and pencil as are used in my paintings.
